Alvar Nunez Cobeza de Vaca

          Alvar Nunez Cobeza de Vaca (Spain, 1490-1560) was sent to Florida to establish spanish rule there.  He explored through Tampa Bay, Galveston Island, Texas, New Mexico, The Rio Grande, Chihuahua, Sonora, the Gulf of California, Sierra Madre, and Mexico City.  Alvar's legacy was that he was left behind because he had a fever and had to wait a few years to meet back up with his friends again.

          Alvar started at Spain, which he was at since he was born in 1490, he landed in Tampa Bay in 1528, he came back to Spain in 1537.  Sources of when Alvar was captured by Native Americans it is noted as they were Indians.

A= Spain to Tampa Bay

B= Tampa Bay Mexico City

C= Mexico City to Spain

              Alvar Nunez belongs in the hall of shame.  He belongs there because when he was given his objectives he ignored them and set out to look for treasure instead.  When he came across Native Americans he and his men fought them.  After Alvar's men depleted greatly he retreated.  In a few months all his men where gone except for three others, they got enslaved by Native Americans.  That is why he belongs in the hall of shame.

                     In the 15th and 16th centuries, explorers went to America to find a new place to live, and in space exploration today people go to space to study it and find other planets that we can live on.  Exploration in both times where risky because like when Alvar Nunez went to America and lost most of his men, astronauts have the risk of dieing in space. taking off to space, or landing from space.  Explorers from the past used wooden ships, while space explorers from today use metal space ships.
